GCA Zone VII Meeting
Our GCAlex team is home from the 2026 GCA Zone VII meeting in Louisville, KY - and what a meeting it was! As you know, our club will host this meeting next year (September 20-22, 2027). Mary Ellen, Amy, Michaela and Cathy gathered valuable insights about both the Zone VII meeting and the Flower Show and they look forward to sharing these details during upcoming club meetings.
In the meantime, we have reason to celebrate several GCAlex achievements! We are delighted to announce that Lucy Rhame won the GCA Zone VII Horticulture Award! This award recognizes Lucy's enthusiasm for plants and sustained leadership in horticulture within the GCA. Lucy was unable to attend the Zone VII meeting, so our GCAlex team received the award on her behalf (see photo below). We look forward to celebrating with Lucy at our Club Flower Show reception on September 30.
In addition, our club members shone brightly in the Flower Show. Frances won the GCA Novice Award for her photograph, Mary Ellen and Amy won a blue ribbon for their beautiful flower arrangement, Cathy won several blue ribbons in horticulture, Barbra Noe won a red ribbon in photography and Twig won a red ribbon for her enchanting botanical arts brooch. These accomplishments reflect the creativity, talent, and dedication that make our club so special - and we are immensely proud of each of these members.
